2008 Girls Win Gold! 2008 Boys take Silver!

Fathers Day weekend saw two of our BC United teams head out to the 41st NOSO Cup in North Olmsted, OH.

Day one saw the 2008 Girls face tournament hosts, NOSO and Parma PSC. The girls were fast out of the gate, moving the ball with conviction. This led to multiple chances in quick succession. With chances being created with great hold-up play from Olivia W, midfielders joined attacks and the girls felt themselves overwhelming the opposition back four with overload situations.
The girls looked in control from start to finish, reflecting that control was a comfortable 9-3 scoreline, boosting confidence into game two vs. Parma PSC.

Game 2 saw a tighter scoreline, Parma fought hard with some technical play, catching our girls out with some sharp dribbles, however, some tough play from Gretchen G in the middle of park started breaking up Parma's dribbles, turning tackles into fresh attacks, sliding through our 7 and 11's to put them into scenarios where they could shoot or cross.

Game 3 the 08s found themselves in great flow off the back of 2 wins, with some dazzling efforts from 11, Grace H cutting in onto her favored right foot, nestling multiple efforts into the corner of the net. Avery C found herself in a more attacking role, being slid into the 7, allowing her to use her physical strength and speed higher up the field in attacking scenarios, tallying 2 goals and helping the girls to their third win of the tournament.

Onto the the girls marched, with 3 wins and an array of goals scored in various fashions. Confidence was high, but they faced a Greater Elyria Force team who had not lost a game. The girls found themselves being physically overwhelmed from the go, Greater Elryia swarmed the ball, crowding it making technical play difficult.
The girls notched a quick goal through a breakaway but were getting frustrated as dribbling was becoming difficult, Force, wised to the skillful dribbles and started to use physical force to break down BC attacks. Right on the half, Force awarded a questionable PK, but GK Saeryn H stood stern and caught the shot cleanly maintaining a clean sheet.

The second half started with BC capitalizing on the unorganized, unorthodox defending tactics of Force, with regular switches of play to stop Force swarming the players on the ball. Force could not keep up with the speed of play shifting from side to side, and eventually, BC broke through with 3 more goals to bury the competition and cap off a brilliant weekend with a 4-0 win in the final.

Great way to end the season girls! Congratulations.
