BC United Enters LESA League Play!

Since starting in the Spring of 2017, BC United has operated with the constant mission of and cost-efficient professional training for the Youth Soccer Players of Western PA.

We refused to enter league play until a few reasons could be resolved, one being that we wanted to avoid the constant week after week play, on top of our other sports and soccer teams. We feel it is important for kids to experience and enjoy other sports, especially at younger ages.

We also did not want to put ourselves over the $1,000 mark for year-round registration, it is very important for us to stay at our $800 price point. Entering the past league options would have forced us above a price point we do not feel is fair to play competitive club soccer. We understand there is cost, but we do not want to climb to prices that are traditionally seen in the Western PA demographic, that is not what we want to be known for.

However, effective from today, by removing pre-season tournaments, we will be entering league play, while upholding our clubs’ values! LESA League will allow us to play an 18-game year-long season. With 6 games in the Fall, and Spring, and 4 across Winter. LESA is within a different governing body than PA West, which only creates an additional $25 cost per player which keeps us around our $800 price point. The $25 fee is created by liability insurance within the new Governing Body that we would be playing under.

But do not worry, although we will now play within the LESA League, it is designed to be time efficient for all of our parents. Continuing to fall in-line with our Club Mission. This allows us to satisfy the players who would like League Play, while also satisfying the players who like the current development structure.

In Fall and Spring Seasons, there will be 3 weekends that include two games, played at our home location, Erie and another location within 90 minutes. Allowing us to play our 6 League games but still in a time efficient manner.

During the Winter Season, there will be 4 games, 1 a month, or 2 in 2 months.

We are excited in the new direction that BC United is taking for its players' development!

Club Technical Director, Walter Clapton says, “Entering League Play has been a constant chat among Club Directors. We have had our reasons for staying away from it until an opportunity that suited our core values presented itself. LESA allows us to take a positive step regarding our player development by entering competition in the form of League Play on an Annual Basis. This satisfies hunger for a league, while also not being any more of a time commitment than we were before. This is a great step for the Si Fortis Fortes Player Development Program at BC United and the players within it”.
