November saw BC United take 7 teams to Charleston, WV for the inaugural Friends of Coal Cup Tournament, sanctioned by WVYSA.
On the boy's side, our 2008 and 2007 teams both took 2nd place and a Silver Medal at the event, coming short on gold but putting into effect individual and team goals to show spectators what they have been working on in the Fall.
Spectacular Goalkeeping efforts from Aiden W and Zach H kept games tight and played a big part in keeping their teams fighting until the last whistle. Great job, lads.
On the girl's side, our 2008 girls played up in the 2007 division, taking 2nd place and a Silver Medal.
Confident Saturday play put morale high among the girls heading into Sunday morning. With some tantalizing play Sunday morning against a physically tough FC33 team, they went into the championship game with 3 W's. The girls fell short in the final to an earlier foe, FC33, that they beat 3-1 earlier that day. Both teams battled it out with some end to end, quick paced, action-filled soccer. The girls should be proud, playing up a division and taking home 2nd place.
