BC United Adds 8th Partner Club!

Wilmington Area Soccer Club has become their 8th community soccer partner Club, BC United announced today.  Wilmington joins Brighton Township-Beaver Soccer Association, Hopewell Soccer Club, Knoch Soccer, Laurel Soccer Club, Prospect Soccer, Riverside Area Youth Soccer League and SV North Soccer in the ranks of BC United community partners. BC United will provide Wilmington's players a structured developmental program and access to year-round professional coaching.  Wilmington will receive support to provide additional community programs, including goalkeeper academies and technical camps.

“We're very excited to partner with Wilmington," said BC United Technical Director Walter Clapton. "Their location in northern Lawrence County limits player access to Premier Soccer, but the community program is thriving and growing," he said.

“Our player-focused development plan blends very well with the concerns the Wilmington Board has with pay-to-play soccer," continued Clapton.  "Limiting our costs to just $800 per year gives players an opportunity to get Premier-level training without breaking the bank," Clapton said.

Wilmington Area Soccer Club plays out of Marti Park in New Castle, and has been a cornerstone youth sports program for the Wilmington Area School District, but serves players from areas including New Castle, Grove City, Mercer Pulaski. Wilmington is a long time member of PA West District III.

“BC United seeks to help develop our community club, not funnel players into pay-to-play programs," said Melissa Headlee-Kendall, Wilmington President.  "Our board is so happy to offer our players this opportunity to play Premier Soccer, but we also welcome the structured practices, coaching support, goalkeeper academies and other benefits that Wilmington will receive from BC United," she continued.

BC United takes pride in being an age-appropriate player development program that looks further than the game this weekend. BC United seeks to:

  • Provide our proven advanced soccer training, developed and tested by one of the country's leading programs.
  • Provide our , professional coaching staff.
  • Provide our players and families with the latest in sports fitness programs, minimizing injuries.
  • Provide our players with the skills and tools to become leaders throughout their adult lives.
  • Strengthen our local high school programs by developing skilled players. Click here to see BC United's player development model.
